I was excited to breastfeed, I didn’t get lots of support in hospital (one care assistant was amazing, one gave a 10ml formula top up feed from a cup and one refused to give the top up but didn’t explain to me that it was a good thing and I should have kept going and we’d get there), my husband didn’t know any better and on day three when he rang his mum cos I was in bits (cluster feeding - who knew!) she said to give a bottle of formula, so we did and magic! Baby stopped crying. I felt like I had nowhere to turn and at about 12 weeks we had gone entirely on bottle feeds (a mix of formula and pumped breast milk). In a desperate measure to make my bf journey not something that will make me sad every time I think about it I started donating milk to @humanmilkcharity. So I managed to turn my story round and now I’m proud of my breastfeeding journey.
